Installation description and comments

windows XP service account.

I found a solution to a problem that I would like to share and get your review.
(So get some tomatotes to throw...)

I had uninstalled the meinberg ntp daemon that was installed as a service.

After re-install, there was a problem with the daemon signing in.
I had even more trouble trying to delete the local (ot User) account.

Ah-Hah!
I read this article:
http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articl ... pusrm.html

In it, I read that, once an account is deleted the account name CAN NEVER BE RE-USED.

Well. I follow forum decor and will not state my opinion of Microsoft.

So - when re-installing, I changed the default name
from: ntp
to: ntp2

After the install, the daemon started OK!
Hurray!

Any comments for improvements?

Jay

PS
Many thanks to Meinberg!

Jay,

thanks for your report. We will test this here and perhaps we are able to improve things. At least to give the user an indication what might be going wrong.
